Last year, before she had put out any music, Noah Cyrus came into the i-D office in London to give us a sneak peek at what she had been working on and we knew right away that she was so much more than just Miley’s little sister. Six months later, when we met again, Noah’s life had completed changed.

Over the weekend, Noah released the video for Stay Together, a catchy summer anthem that’s almost as addictive as that water droplet sound in her emotional debut, a duet with Labrinth called Make Me Cry. Taken from her forthcoming debut album NC-17 (named after her initials, her age, the year, the movie rating) the video for the new single dropped in a whirlwind of teen dreams, nocturnal adventures and not giving a fuck. Driving through LA with her real life friends, Noah sings an ode to millennial life in 2017; how “nothing lasts forever, but wouldn’t it be nice to stay together for the night?” carrying on the party once, “the uber’s here… driver pass that aux to me.” Before smashing your phone screen, getting donuts on the drive home and breaking into the public pool.

Sister of Miley and daughter of Billy Ray, Noah, 17, is the last of the Cyrus clan to go solo with a single called Make Me (Cry) and the forthcoming release of a first album. Meet a pop star in the making.

She was already famous even before she wished to be. Noah Cyrus, raised by a father country star in the media shadow of his illustrious elder, never really experienced anonymity.

Born in the aftermath of the millennium, she was only three years old when she made her debut in an American series before appearing, several years later and several times, in Hannah Montana, embodied by a still peaceful Miley Cyrus.

The one that had hitherto been retained the mutinous face of the first and very young red carpets borrows this year the path that already seemed traced to him by unveiling a first single Make Me (Cry) in featuring with the British producer Labrinth. The Californian tells in this melancholic ballad, between the voluptuous repertoire of Lana Del Rey and the electric pop of Miley, the difficulty to get rid of a toxic relationship.

On “Stay Together,” Noah Cyrus sings about being young and wild and free. She sings about cigarettes and bad DJs and broken iPhones. She sings about not giving a fuck, in the way that only a 17-year-old could.

The song is the second single from her as-yet-unreleased first album, which is literally called NC-17. The first was “Make Me Cry,” a melancholy duet with a singer named Labrinth. Both songs showcase Noah’s voice, which, like her big sister Miley’s, is full of personality. And both songs are very good.

Today, The FADER is debuting the video for “Stay Together.” It features Noah and some pals cruising around in what feels like some kind of teenage summer utopia, where the light is always just right. It’s the type of clip you imagine was a blast to make. According to an email from Noah to The FADER, it was: “I had two of my real life friends featured in the video, and I got to make some new friends,” she wrote. “My favorite part was spray painting the bathtub!”

Noah Cyrus dropped the single "Stay Together" on Friday
Cyrus is the younger sister of pop star, Miley Cyrus, and daughter of country singer, Billy Ray Cyrus

Noah Cyrus is singing her way out of her big sister's shadow.
The 17-year-old sibling of Miley Cyrus dropped a new single on Friday morning, and the internet is a buzz about the rising star.

"If you're awake and haven't listened to Stay Together by Noah Cyrus, why r u even up #YourWelcome," tweeted one fan.

"Can't stop singing along to #StayTogether by @noahcyrus," wrote another.
If you're not yet familiar with the youngest Cyrus, here's a bit more about the songstress.

She came in like a wrecking ball

Her debut single "Make Me Cry" released in November. Anticipation is building for Cyrus' debut album "NC-17," which is expected to drop sometime in 2017.

Music is in her blood

There are a lot of musicians in the Cyrus family. Beyond her dad and sister's singing success, Cyrus' brother Trace is the lead guitarist for the band Metro Station.

You'll be seeing a lot more of her

Cyrus made her debut TV performance on "The Tonight Show" in January. She's booking big gigs and is set to perform at iHeartRadio Music Festival's Daytime Village in Las Vegas this September.

You might already recognize her

She made several appearances on her sister's hit Disney Channel show, "Hannah Montana."

Miley is helping her navigate stardom

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Cyrus shared some music industry insight she learned from her sister.

"Miley always says,

Don't ever look yourself up or read your comments,

'cause you're gonna see stuff that you don't want to see,'" she said. "That's the best advice ever. If it's making me happy, then it's working."

Listen to her song now!

She’s only 17 years old, but don’t let her age trick you. This girl is on a roll and ready to conquer the world. Her name? Noah. Noah Cyrus. That will sound familiar in a lot of ears, and we probably don’t have to introduce you to her family. I don’t even want to. When I heard that I would get the chance to interview this sweet girl, I started going through all the interviews she already did. I’m still astounded by how journalists make everything revolve about her family. She’s her own fucking person, you know? I think it’s about time that people recognize her for the artist that she is, and not for the last name she possesses.

That being said, I’m glad that I got to know Noah a little bit better. (am I allowed to call her by her first name? Is our friendship on that level yet?) After our cozy sit-down at her hotel in Brussels, I realise that she’s also still a teenage girl and nothing different than us. And with that, I don’t mean that she isn’t special, but she’s also just a human being. We tend to idolize so many people and forget that they also have a life behind the spotlights. I got to know an incredibly down to earth girl that likes to watch Beauty and the Beast five days in a row in bed.

Noah Cyrus started breaking grounds some time ago with her single “Make Me (Cry)” featuring Labrinth. The song has a certain amount of ‘je ne sais quoi‘ that makes me (and a lot of other people) love it. But I truly fell in love with her when she did an acoustic performance of an unreleased song called ‘Almost Famous‘. I advice you to just watch the video, close your eyes and listen. You’ll get goosebumps for sure. It’s so genuine. So filled with emotions. I can’t get over it.

That’s what I expect her album, called NC-17, to be. In our interview Noah revealed that all the songs are based on her life experiences and each tells a different personal story. Although she wouldn’t reveal too much about the tracks we haven’t heard yet. Noah likes to be secretive about it and she doesn’t want to spoil too much. It certainly makes me even more curious. She will be giving a glimpse of what we can expect with her upcoming single called Stay Together, which will drop on April 14th.
